Review: Devoted Dog Food

As many of you know Colin and Rhapsody are raw fed so this review is a bit unusual for us. This review is for Devoted, a super premium kibble, which we have recently changed Desmond and Eve on to. The team from Devoted got in touch asking if we would like to try a sample of their food and we figured we had nothing to lose, especially as they have been known to go off their kibble (and we’ve tried all the ‘premium’ brands).

Devoted make three different flavours of food; Free Run Chicken, Scottish Salmon and Duck with Trout. Des and Eve were lucky enough to be able to try all three before we committed changing them over to a new food. As they can be a little bit fussy we were pleasentely surprised that they actually liked all three, us humans we were slightly put off by the strong fishy smell that the salmon food omits, which of course the dogs loved, but that is one of the only faults we could find. Des and Eve are usually fairly lazy eaters, their breakfast was often still in their bowls when we went to give them dinner with previous brands, however with Devoted they cannot empty their bowls enough! We also had no funny tummies when we swaped them over, or when we swapped between flavours, which is always pleasant surprise.

Devoted is on the high end of the price range for kibble (you lucky readers get an exclusive 10% discount code). In Free Run Chicken their 2kg bags start at £12.49 and 12kg bags start at £54.99, the Scottish Salmon and Duck with Trout bags are slightly more expensive due to the increased cost of the fish and meats used. Having said this you really do get what you pay for, the quality of the food in that bag is second to no other kibble we have tried before. Devoted kibble is grain free and hypoallergenic, it is suitable for all breeds, including those with sensitive digestions or grain sensitivities. Devoted Dog Food is comprised of 60% nutritious animal ingredients and 40% vegetables, fruits and botanicals – with no added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, ever. As the kibble is 60% freshly prepared animal ingredients it is highly digestible, after all dogs are carnivores so their bodies are designed to digest meat proteins not grains. Better digestion equals smaller and less smelly poos, a win for all involved I’m sure you’ll agree! Due to the high protein content of Devoted you also need less kibble per day, making the bags last longer than other premium kibbles that we have had in the past.

Personally we will be rotating which flavour Des and Eve have, after all variety is the spice of life. We have just received our first big bag of Free Run Chicken, that box could not be unpacked quickly enough! Devoted also do free next day delivery so even when you leave it to the last minute, you know you can still get dinner for the next day.
